Grasping versus reaching is such a profound concept, Kristine. Grasping comes from the belief we will never have enough; reaching is simply extending our hands towards that which we know is there.

Your definitions of reaching and grasping are really good, and sadly, very recognizable. I feel like I've been in the same state you're describing so many times. It's hard. This part especially:

"But the problem is when I start to think all of it will save my life instead of complement it. That it will bring me peace instead of giving me space to sense it. That it will make things easy instead of growing my capacity to face what’s hard."

Thank you! It's always a bit uncomfortable when I recognize what I'm doing -- but it gets easier each time to recover and shift gears. I'm at least thankful for that.

i'm so tempted to just write, "go ahead, pry the coloured uniball pens out of my cold [redacted] hands." but I think that may...or may not be... the very thing you're referring to! ;) your lines on depending on the "things" to save your life felt a little too real. go lightly friend, and thank you for the reminder to do the same. <3

Haha, this one made me laugh! Thank you -- love the expression "go lightly," going to hang onto that one!
