You seem to pack into a day what I would in a week! I'm doing the last minute prep for back to school so this was a welcome read and a reminder that I need to incorporate some fun into our day.
That’s so cool! My 3rd grader is my oldest, so it’s our first time thru! But kinder is doing some LA and Math here and there. I love that it’s free to print!
3rd and 1st were my first years to teach it! We didn't use their math our first year of homeschooling but fell so much in love with LA it was a natural transition for year two. It's not *perfect* by any means and there are things I emphasize perhaps a little less than they sometimes "go hard" on... but all in all it's been a delight!
i love how you did the day by day, hour by hour outline but interspersed with the emotional waves that are rising and settling and changing. it sounds like a lot, but in an almost beautiful off-rhythm sort of way. best wishes for these new beginnings! <3
My kids start after Labour Day (Canada). I’m going the opposite - adding another homeschooler to my single one from last year! Ack! Both are autistic and require more of the unschooling flavour. Which is completely opposite to how I want things to go!
I hope it is a great school year for you. I can imagine it will not be without its challenges, but I anticipate the unschooling seasoning to your days may bring a unique kind of beauty.
I’ve always enjoyed “a day in the life” when it comes to homeschool. Did you ever read the ones at Simple Homeschool? Our school year (for my public school kids and my semi-homeschool kids) starts week after next!
When I first got started, last minute, in 2020, I hunted them down like my life depended on it! And then quickly figured out no formula was going to just... make things perfect. Now I appreciate them less as a prescription and more as a... marvel. All of us out here just trying to make things work the best we know (or don't!) how! I hope your back to school season is filled with grace!!
It took me so much longer to understand that no one else could figure out homeschool for me! It took me until my fifth and sixth children to know that if I skipped some exercises in their reading book (the writing stuff they were getting elsewhere), they would still learn how to read. With my other kids, I was so scared to skip anything that I slowed down their progress.
You're doing great my friend, these are big big changes. One day at a time, we've got this!!!
🙌🏻♥️✨
You are a Super Mom! 💛
Thanks Evelyn!

Fun can be hard to remember to add in when there's just so much to do! Best of luck with your back to school season!
This was so fun to see! I also have a 3rd grader doing TGATB curriculum for math and LA ☺️
This is my third time teaching it, though first time since they updated it! So thankful for this curriculum!

Thank you Civil!! It is a lot but it was sweet to pay attention to what it looked like this week to maybe help me better navigate this one ahead...
