Oh Kristine. Thank you for featuring my poem--I'm so honored. I'm a million days behind on notifications so I was surprised to open your newsletter and see it 💛.

Sadly, my whole feeling right now is that "I can't." I have to, but it feels impossible. I appreciate the reminder that it's not always going to feel effortless to care for others (or myself).

It was a perfectly timed read for me, though I know it was a revisit for you!

I'm sorry you're feeling that way, too -- sometimes I find even just giving myself the space to say it frees up something in me to then go and... well... do. Learning to "lead ourselves well" (as my therapist likes to say) is a never-ending journey.

YES. It’s funny because sometimes I can feel myself waiting for someone else to lead me well, like I am still little. I’m feeling a little less stuck today. It helped that my kids had classes all morning, so I had the chance to catch up on some things that were feeling impossible.

Thanks for sharing our invitation to the Communal Digital Fast Kristine! Happy to have you join along again:) Did you know that Nolan does not have a smartphone because of the level of distraction - see his interview here https://people.com/christopher-nolan-explains-why-he-doesn-t-have-a-smartphone-7561275. Enjoy the Zimmer concert!

Big Nolan fans at our house. And four of my people were at the same Hans Zimmer concert. They LOVED it. My husband said it was one of the best concerts he’s ever been to and that’s high praise coming from him. Our son is in school for film production and his favorite music has always been film scores.

It was absolutely unreal. Looking back I wish we'd been able to bring our daughter, especially given the subject of her studies! I was truly blown away, and enjoying it with so many other clearly enthused concert-goers/film fans was so special!

i adore reading through your music thoughts! i am a bit intimidated by the new Odyssey to be honest, but if the score is wonderful, it might just go alongside Epic for running. this whole newsletter was felt keenly. i've only ever heard the term window of tolerance recently, and it's such a good description (as is your whole piece) on edges. here's to breathing softly and giving yourself the space/grace to say yes and no as you need. <3

I do admit I have mixed feelings on the cast, but being a Nolan fan I'm hopeful... and very excited for the score!

Breathing softly, indeed!

My favorite little blue engine ☺️ I loved this, Kristine. I often think of my own window of tolerance (love Aundi’s books) and how incredibly closed my window has been this school year. But spring emerges and I feel, hope! I’m glad you do, too. Keep on keeping on! Xo
