I found that reading news, audio books, and podcasts on my phone were some of my biggest distractions. They helped me "checkout" to myself at times. Thanks for sharing. I've loved seeing all of the creativity that's come from the digital fast. :)
Ah, “the glorious weight of simple things.” I am in love with that notion, to live like that, write like that. Thank you, Kristine. And your showing up means a lot to me.
I’ve been waiting (patiently) to see this idea come to the substack world and my gosh did it make me smile. What a joy to see your offline creativity marry the space you’ve built here. I am so looking forward to what’s next in this series!
PS: To answer your question, yes! My computer screen (and iPad for that matter) feel so far and away different than this dang phone. An important realization!
I will say, I have had to set parameters around my laptop use as I have felt somewhat of a slide, at times, into the familiar territory of the phone's draw. It's still different and easier to shut down -- but it's funny the things and tendencies you notice!
eek! so much to love in all the tactile elements you've used here. i love the headers and the little note in the margin on writing more poems (and your printing is gorgeous!). trout gogh cracked me up! i took a writing course last month that suggested not just relying on reading and writing as a way to practice flow, but other creative acts too. i forget when i put down my paintbrush how much i miss it until it's back in my hands! hoping the rest of your fast goes beautifully and fills your cup! <3
just one word! inspired! *per usual after any interactions with you :)
Thank you, Tami!

I will keep your family in my prayers. 💜
Thank you for those prayers!
