I love all of this. And I took my 10-year old son to see The Wild Robot too. Loved every minute of sitting next to him, his profile in the glow of the theater, his whispers of "That's not what happened in the book!", and all those simple joys that seem that squeeze my heart. Even though he ate all my Raisinets.

Thanks for sharing, Kristine! I'm glad you were able to get that time with your family in Maryland. I loved seeing the Wild Robot too. I felt like it was as much for parents as the kids.

I resonate with this so much. Always chasing the magic in life wherever we can, because these moments are fleeting! So glad you got to see family and celebrate together. And Meg Ryan fall playlist YASSSS

I just stumbled on Mary Oliver’s poem with the line “my pen in the air” in it. That was a fun surprise!

A Place of Greater Safety is one scary backbone!

🫣 maybe I used the wrong word?

I just think of it as the trunk or spine from which the other books branch from. No matter its publication story, my first novel has changed and will forever change everything I read and write.

I’m not saying that’s the same for Mantel, but I’d like to think so!

Oof. I've got so many of those books that I was supposed to read in high school, but never actually did. My high-schooler keeps quizzing me and shaking his head in mock disgust when I admit that I've never read "Animal Farm" and many other standard classics for Gen-Xers.
